Grandma Betty and Grandpa Dean took me to VBS at their church. It was so much fun. I sang songs and made crafts and listened to stories. We even collected coins for Paul so he could buy a motorcycle in Africa. Mommy and Daddy asked if I meant the apostle Paul...I don't know, there are a lot of things to keep straight. Mommy didn't even go to Vacation Bible School, but she seems to know all the words to the songs. I guess they were just catchy.
SPECIAL GIVING PROJECT:
Pop Coins for Piki Piki (Motorcycle)
This year we are providing children with plastic popcorn containers and nickels to make the sound of popcorn as they "pop-in" pennies, dimes, nickels and quarters to provide a sweet "ride" for Pastor Madembo who lives in Tanzania. He is one of the many pastors who walk up to 25 miles between villages to provide worship and care for children and families.
Please take a moment to share the following facts with your children:
- Most families in Tanzania walk wherever they go.
- Most families cannot afford to buy a bike for work, let alone fun.
- A motorcycle in Tanzania would be like a limo in the United States.
- God gives us more than enough so we will always have enough to share with others. (2 Corinthians 9:8)
Make the most of this opportunity to nurture kindness and generosity. You might identify special chores for your children to receive coins or do a call out to your neighborhood.
So much fun!
